Tooth fillings

Our aesthetic fillings are made of the highest quality light-curing composite material, which matches the original color of the tooth perfectly. This special material gives a flawless finish, and it is the most functionally reliable of all filling solutions. All of our dentists involved in fillings provide results with outstanding aesthetics, so that the filling blends in perfectly with its surroundings.

AMALGAM FILLINGS – BEST TO GET RID OF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

In the past, amalgam filling was the most widely used method. We no longer use amalgam fillings in modern dentistry, because they are not aesthetically pleasing, and the surface can also corrode over time. This can lead to metal leaching out into the mouth, which contains toxic mercury.
Older amalgam fillings which no longer seal properly at the edges are advised to be replaced with modern fillings.

At our dental clinic, we place great importance on using proper protection when removing old amalgam fillings.
They are removed as safely as possible, in a so-called cofferdam isolation, with proper ejector suction, so that toxic mercury released from the amalgam is not released into the air.
Cofferdams are a highly useful and important tool during the removal of amalgam fillings, because they ensure that no residues can leach into the body during the process.
The cofferdam isolation removal procedure serves to create a barrier between the tooth containing the amalgam filling from its environment with a rubber sheet. This makes it completely safe to remove toxic amalgam fillings.
The safe removal of amalgam fillings is further guaranteed by our dental machines, which are equipped with an amalgam separator – a standard requirement nowadays.

DENTAL INSERTS – INLAYS / ONLAYS

An inlay is a type of solid filling prepared by a dental technician, based on an impression taken. The difference between inlays (smaller) and onlays (larger) is their size. Both types can be made from dental composite, from porcelain or from gold.

After old fillings and decayed parts have been removed, there is often little tooth material left, which means the tooth can only be restored by using a very large filling. One of the characteristics of normal fillings is shrinking: this creates a gap between the tooth and the filling, where bacteria can form colonies and cause cavities again.
This means that inlays and onlays have lifetime three times longer than fillings. These dental inserts are also frequently used after root canal treatment, since the treatment can weaken the structure of the tooth, which can thereby break easier. An onlay, however, can help to keep these damaged teeth.
